The package says “for college, apartment, camper, or office”.

It just a little common sense. A back-to-school hello kitty lunchbox is probably for the younger set. A back-to-school knife set is probably for college students, who are over 18 and often cook for themselves.

College is school too, folks.

Led here from Neatorama. How the heck have so many people missed the point? Commercial cooking is a class, man! I know I took it in grade nine! I’m not going to spend a hundred bucks so my kid can have fancy knives for a semester. This is a great solution.

I’m going to link this, in connection with a post I wrote recently. Here in Britain we’ve had a number of fatal stabbing in schools, leading to a certain level of paranoia.

Back to school knives? Hm. that’s going a bit far.
It’s an ongoing debate, I carried a knife as a teenager… I do now. It’s in use regularly in my work. I don’t struggle with packaging and string, I can pry cans open, sharpen pencils, cut my bread.
The relevant point is, do you see a knife as a weapon? or as a tool?
I’d put cutting implements as the most important tools we humans ever devised.
