I recently received a depressing great e-mail informing me there are only 36 35 days left till Christmas from my friend Nik. In it she told us about a slogan she stole adopted from somewhere on the internet. Her kids are going to ask Santa for:
“Something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read”
And I thought to myself. Awesome. I am going to help teach my kids to be responsible about what they ask for this year. This will mean I am one step closer to the Mother of the Year award. This will make me a GOOD mom. And so, I told the kids about it. To which Tucker replied:
“Okay, so by ‘something to read’ could that be like a gift card to Target? You have to read that. Does that count?”
I totally give up.

I love the idea of this, but I would have to set dollar limits on the want, need, and wear!
ha ha, classic!
I like the idea too. Of course, kids get the “want” and “need” notion mixed up. “Mom! I really NEED this new WII game!!”
I love that!
I have a comment, but I’m afraid it will be totally misinterpreted. So I’m going to email it to you.
My kids sliced and diced it to their liking as well. Maddy said, “I want a Nintendo DS. So if I get that, then I’m going to NEED a game to play on it, otherwise there’s no point. Or maybe that could be my ‘to read’ because of the instructions?”
Yeah. May the force be with us.
I got the same e-mail from Miss Nik, and I think it’s a great idea. However, I will add this: “Choose wisely, because if you give me bad suggestions my default will be cartoon underwear, which fits the bill for all categories, sort of.”
