Mamma’s got her camera back! You can be funny now.

IMG_0017-1Yesterday I got the call, and I was giddy with excitement. It was the Canon Factory calling to tell me they are going to give me a 50D for free because I am such an awesome photographer and a great person and good people should get everything their heart desires that my point and shoot camera was fixed-LIKE NEW. I hopped in my car and ran down there to pick it up. And you know what? They didn’t charge me a cent. They said it was ‘out of the scope of the warranty’ but they fixed it as a ‘courtesy’. Are you kidding me? As if I didn’t already have 20+ years of reasons to love Canon, now I have to add this to my list too? Really it is amazing, and I can’t thank them enough. On another note- and the reason behind the photo; I woke up today to the sound of our sprinkler system. I left to take the kids to school and curiously it was still on. I came back from dropping off kids and they were STILL on. My yard looked as flooded as a rice paddy…and my neighbors were driving by and thinking I was showing off my rebellion against the whole ‘conserve water’ movement. Well I tried everything I knew. Cut power to the sprinkler system, reprogrammed, re-set…etc. AND THEY WERE STILL ON. Finally I called (after Kristen suggested it ) the Yorba Linda Water department to help me find my water main and tell me how to do it. And do you know what? They came out to my house in 5 minutes and did it FOR me. I doubt if I called 911 I would get such a quick response…it was rather amazing. And NICE. This is their truck sitting in front of house. Notice how you can see the reflection of the truck in the concrete? Yeah the whole thing is under 2″ of water. Amazing in two days the universe turned lemons into lemonade for me. Which reminds me, I was given The Lemonade Award by my friend Straight Shooter. SHE thinks I have a way of turning the ‘lemons’ in my life into ‘lemonade’. Which I guess I do always try to find the silver lining or the upside to just about everything. But I think I have room for improvement. Now when I can turn my lemons into a full blown lemon meringue pie, well…then I would feel deserving! But the laws of the award order me to select others that I feel posses such skills.  This is hard, since so many of my fellow bloggers know how to totally fake it in their blog to make it look like they are completely okay with whatever life has thrown at them make the best out of challenging times. So this will take some thought. Complete list coming soon. After I replace all the coco mulch that washed away in the great yard flood of 09.

See? You’re so smart for actually calling qualified people to help! I called MY MOTHER! And we beat the faucet with a wrench–for a long time.

Hooray for good things!

BTW, before you replace that coco mulch, do you have any dogs around that you like? Because the coco mulch is 1. tasty to dogs and 2. potentially fatal to dogs. No kidding.

Yay! Wondering when you’d get your camera back. Hope it lasts another 20 years — no I don’t. I hope it breaks and you have to get a new 50D, which will be on TREMENDOUS sale because of the sluggish economy.
