From January 1st until April 15th we all starting, thinking things like ‘where the heck did I put that year-end statement?’. So you scour your house, the car and your purse only to find your toddler used it to draw a ‘pitty-pitty-pony’ on the back so it has been on your fridge all this time. Many of us find doing our taxes a great mystery, and prefer to hire others to ‘crunch the numbers’, but this year why not try something different? Why not save the money you would normally pay your tax-man (er, tax woman too) and buy yourself a new Coach purse? See I have my priorities straight. I think we all should shop more and save the economy- I call it The Glamorous Economy Recovery Plan. To kick start the plan, I am giving away 10 copies of TurboTax Deluxe software over the next few months so you can do your own taxes and make money before your refund even arrives! You can rely on the easy to use (dummy proof) software and not human error by using older than your parents Tax-man (er
woman).
So leave a comment on this post and tell me what you will buy with your bigger-than-expected-thank-you-TurboTax refund. And I will use a Random Number generator to pick 3 of you. And the first three will receive the world’s cutest tax related onsie (what?)…..if you don’t win this go around, I will be doing this again next week. After all…we owe it to the economy don’t we? I knew you would agree!

(Thank you to TurboTax for sponsoring this give-away. See? I told you they were cool people.)

VERY COOL! We need this software! Off to Twitter it!
with two properties and my husband spending half of 2008 unemployed, we definitely need Turbo Tax. We don’t use anything else!
we actually use our refund to pay our property taxes. boring eh? if we have enough leftover though, i want to take a trip to Seattle, or get a new bigger kitchenaid mixer :)
I think I want to do something fun for my 30th birthday since we couldn’t afford to for our 10th anniversary… Does extra money come with turbo tax? ha!!
I’ve got my fingers crossed that maybe this year there’s enough refund to buy a new dining room table and chairs; the current set only has 3 chairs left standing for the five of us…we eat in shifts or someone gets stuck sitting on the computer chair and the family room ottoman.
and I also tweeted:

A new mattress set – I swear, I’m sleeping on the Apennines every night! Also, renewing our membership to the nature center, and then generally paying bills until the refund or the bills run out. Yeah, the party never stops.
Shade and Sweetwater,
K
I’ll use it for boring but necessary stuff…property taxes! Thanks for the great giveaway :)
We will pay our property taxes and then, start the nasty cycle all over again trying to figure out how to pay it in December. Some people save up a little each month. Not us, we just blow it all. :)
WHat a great idea! Don’t include me in the contest, though, because I use Web Turbotax and have for, like, going on 10 years. Except for last year when it really was a complicated year and I paid a CPA-friend to do them. But I’m taking it back again this year!
I will simply say to anyone who’s on the fence that TurboTax is super-easy and will make you feel like a genius. Plus, you get instant gratification (at least if you’ve overpaid) because they put an ongoing tally of your potential refund on the screen while you’re working through. (Of course that works the other way, too, if you end up owing.)
Great idea Marcy!
I would love the tax refund money that Turbo Tax will give me to buy a new iPod. You see, my daughter “borrows” mine everyday, and I have no music to listen to while I cook dinner.
I’m bummed I missed this giveaway because I GOTTA have that onesie!
I’m using my refund on a TiVo. Yay!
I especially loved your purple costume get-up and your absolutely wonderful story of life through the eyes of a 9 year-old. I found your site from an English friend on StumbleUpon.
