SHE SAID YES!!!!!!!! (but feel free to link up!)
I have asked the entire blogosphere to write a post about Marriage/Love/Wedding and link them up below. Mr. Linky will act as best man and take your links at the door. Didn’t write one for today but have a perfect one in your archives? Link it up!
And now for my entry. How about the story of my own engagement. Was it sky writing? Was it a ring in the champagne? Was it in a horse drawn carriage in Central Park? Well. NO. Actually I got engaged on a dare of sorts.
The Husband lived in Manhattan and I lived in Hollywood when we met. A week later he called to tell me he was going to move to Hollywood to be with me. I had only known him a week but I was already crazy in love, still I had to play it cool.
So the conversation went like this:
Me: Oh yeah, and um where are you gonna live?
Him: Ah….with….you.
Me: Really? Yeah I don’t think so….not without a ring on my finger. (I was totally being sarcastic. Totally)
Him: Fine. When you come next week on your business trip let’s go ring shopping.
Me: (thinking he was kidding) Oh sure. Let’s go ring shopping!
Him: Okay then. We’re getting married.
Me: Yeah we are totally getting married. (still being sarcastic. Clearly a problem for me)
And so it was. I was in New York a week later on business and lo and behold as soon as I got out of my car from the airport he said “Ready to go ring shopping?” (what girl says no to THAT question?)…and off we went. To the jewelry district. There was a precious moment in the basement of a jewelry store when my ring was in the other room being sized and we were alone; he got on one knee and asked me to marry him officially. And I cried a little. So my engagement story is a little unusual….but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Eleven years, 2 kids, 5 houses, 5 moves and a lot of laughs and a few tears later….I have learned much from my marriage. Mainly I have learned not to dare my husband…cuz he is a follow thru kinda guy.
I suppose you are wondering WHERE the HECK is the actual proposal???

I think that’s so rare – taking the plunge so fast like that! Glad it all worked out!
I LOVE that story.
Oh wow!! I love that story. How very cute.
Is there a button code?
Oh that Ed!
Is there any way to change my link? I have never used mr Linky before and I didnt know I should write out my site name in the “your name” field. I know, I am such a newbie to this stuff!
Life got in the way, as usual, or I would have been here sooner. Also? My post wouldn’t have been so lame. But I’m very excited, Miss Marcy. Thank you for the opportunity and for all you’re doing!

Oh, I forgot to add — GREAT engagement story. Somehow I knew it would be glamorous. ;)
Your life is SO a movie. I need to start reading your blog with popcorn.
Cute engagement story. I love hearing love stories like that!
What a great story and what a fun posting idea. You are really awesome!
I just had to link up after seeing this on Blessed Nest! I’ve linked up an older post I did (also a linky) about our wedding. Might try to write another one on my engagement… it was AWESOME!
I’ll have mine up this evening. Thank you for making me put this story to writing – it’s about time, after all!
I am doing an entire series on my blog as to me and hubby of 20 years got married. It wasn’t quite as quick as you, but still a little on the unusual side.
And I thought WE were fast! We met in January, he told me he PLANNED on proposing in March (lame!!!!), proposed in june, married in November!
OK, I’m posted, and I’m so glad you prompted me to write this one down for the ages!
I came over here from Deb’s, and I’m very glad I did. What a fabulous engagement story. :)
Ugh! I was trying to post mine from my phone and messed it up! Could you remove 9 & 10 or just not count them. They won’t work! #30 does!! Yay! I finally got it right!!
I love your proposal story! It’s funny how you just know when he’s the one immediately!
I love it!!!!
I am so glad to be part of this.
Marcy, your post is awesome.
Mine is FINALLY up.
so much fun!

Great idea! Thanks for the invitation.
I’ve linked to our 10th wedding anniversary celebration: we created a meme and challenge each of you to tell us: which children’s book best represents *your* marriage? your life?
Oh, yay! What a happy thing to read about!
Awesome engagement story! It was really love at first sight for us too, but we held off on moving in with each other for at least 3 weeks, but only because I had to move from France to Boston, and we didn’t get married until two years later…
I want to get married again. Whaa. But to the same dude.
Glamorous Love Story, thanks for sharing!
I was looking for the answer…Mommypies answer…don’t see it…is it time, is it the day? WHAT is the ANSWER!?
Super, super sweet. It is very fitting for you two to be engaged on a dare!
I linked to one of my older posts because I think it gets the point across that you should make your wedding and marriage be exactly what you want them to be, not what others say they should be!
I feel so nervous that mine was inappropriate. Like I need to explain myself. But, but, but…I wrote that post today without even knowing what was going on! And it was about my marriage! And I never write about my marriage! And I figured that was a sign! A sign that I should just link and not write a new post that’s more appropriate! Right? Someone tell me I’m right, please!
Or just tell me to shut up. That’s cool, too.
(This be so cool, by the way. I love this stuff.)
I LOVE these stories, and couldn’t help adding my own. I will be obsessing over proposal 2.0 for the rest of the day.
OK, seriously? We have to wait till 6 PACIFIC? I’m dying here in Maryland!!
I love it … What a fun idea to link up all this love in one place!
Awwwww!
The waiting is killing me!
I gave you two separate entries –
great post – great idea!
The waiting….
WTH?!
I’ve left TWO stinkin’ comments on the Proposal Plan 2.0 blog and NEITHER one of them have shown up.
So here’s what I’ve already said. TWICE.
SAY YES, Mommy Pie!!!
And how the heck are you going to invite the whole dang internet to the wedding?
I think CNN should televise the wedding. Hint, hint. CNN, you ARE reading, right?
(And if you are and you happen to need a Atlanta-based correspondent to fly to the wedding, I’m your blogger.)
Congrats!
And – btw – just added you to my reader, MommyPie!
Okay, I linked up to an anniversary post because … gahhh … I’ve never even blogged about my marriage proposal and I can’t think at the nth hour after all this excitement is happening. I’m verklempt… love proposals and weddings…
What an awesome idea, thanks for letting me be a part of it … whoooooottt!!!
Super fun! What a crazy and fun engagement story!!
I wish you both every blessing of love, health, success, happiness, prosperity and progress. When I met my late life partner of over 20 years, who died of complications of multiple sclerosis in December 2004, I felt I had carried her image in my heart all my life and at last I’d found her. I came to the home where she was renting a room for a meditation course. After I went home, I courted her with letters, tapes and phone calls while she was on an extended visit with her parents. A couple of days before she was scheduled to get a ride back to her home several states away, I bought her a plane ticket to come to me. When I called to tell her she was out. She had two messages when she came home, one from me, one from her ride. She called her ride first and found out that God smote her ride’s car and therefore she had no ride. Then she called me and found out about the plane ticket. She’d been asking God for a sign on whether I was the right one and burst into tears. That was her sign! We were very happy and together over 20 years until she died.
Had pegged you as being a nice person long ago, this is…icing on the cake.
Good job.
…just wondering, are you going into the matchmaking business?
Woo hoo! I learned about this process through The Bloggess and with my love out of town, it was fun to reflect on how we find ourselves here.
I love hearing stories of engagements…it is fun to hear the jumbotron type ones as well as the less traditional/romantic ones.
Congrats!!
It took me awhile to figure out what the heck was going on over here, but I finally got it…I linked to my proposal story. There are a few others there that I made up too, just for fun.
