That’s a great one! Sounds like my grandparents’ story. They went on a date one Saturday and got married the next. My grandfather told my grandmother they were going to get a blood test. And she said, “Why do need a blood test to go steady?” And he said, “We’re getting married you little fool.” She didn’t believe and off she went to get a blood test, ring, and dress. She didn’t even know his last name until the day they got married by the JOP. That was 51 years ago.

The proposal and responses were so much fun to read — and I love your engagement story, too! I tried to leave a comment on the proposal blog, but I always have trouble with Blogger when the comments are in that format (where you pick your profile from the drop-down list). Fortunately, I had the presence of mind to copy my comment before trying to post it (whereupon it promptly disappeared). I hope you don’t mind my leaving it here for the happy couple. :)

Came around via MommyTime. I only know MommyPie a little from seeing comments on other blogs here and there (I have been actively trying not to read any new blogs because I KNOW my addiction will get worse…) but reading this and the comments was fabulous. And even though I already knew the answer (because MommyTime said so in the post that linked here), I STILL got all teary when I read the answer.

Gosh darnit, it’s just all so awesome.

Advice? Hmm, haven’t really got any nuggets of wisdom, but I do get inspired by my husband’s granny, whose obvious love for her husband (and his love for her) always made me think, “I hope we’re just like them when we get old.” She told me once that there were several times that she would have up and run away if only there’d been a place for her to run TO. If two people so perfect each other got through times like that, then so can we.
