Welcome to Sincerely Fro Me to You linky party! (I know this is on the heels of Proposal 2.0 linky. But I hate to miss a week on the Fro!)
Where the photos you would really rather not show anyone are shared with the entire Internet. Which makes perfect sense to bloggers.
Read all about it with guidelines here.
I grew up in Orange County, California.
As in Southern California.
As in SUNNY Southern California.
Where the average temperature on Christmas day is about 80 degrees. But that was not going to stop 1983 Marcy from wearing her brand new cashmere scarf, gloves and matching beret (which actually is close to the shade of raspberry and might be where Prince got the idea. Just sayin). And I poured all of this great fashion on top of my new sweater, and jacket. Wow what a look. I think the glimmer of the braces is what really takes this photo to a new level. Of course my cool big brother was sportin a mighty fine Swiss Alps sweater too…..so maybe it runs in the family.
Now your turn!
Link up. Old photo, New Photo…just really any photo with a story!

Love it! (And double extra coolness points for including a Prince reference!) On Xmas 1983 I think I was sportin’ my Strawberry Shortcake glittery tee! Dude, I could get like $40 at Ambercrombie for that these days – I was 5 and a 16yo girl’d pay top dollar for it!
Well hey, you look nice and festive anyway!
I’ll be singing Raspberry Beret for the rest of the week!
My mom’s mother made us some sort of crotchet hat, mittens, slippers for Christmas EVERY year of her life. We needed them in South Alabama as much as you did in CA.
At least you were in the spirit, right? LOL!
I grew up in Phoenix and can totally relate to this! 70 seems COLD in the southwest! It snowed in MT today, oh how I miss those 80 degree temps. :)
Hey! Maybe it was below 70 degrees that day!
Great look for ya! I always laughed when I went to visit friends in California (I’m from Seattle) because they’d be all bundled up in 70 degree weather, while I was wearing shorts and sandals and wanting to swim in the Pacific!
She wore a raspberry beret – the kind u find in a second hand store. Raspberry beret – and if it was warm she wouldn’t wear much more. Raspberry beret – I think I love her.
You can say thank you now. Cuz I stopped singing. And yes, it was bad.
You guys are styling…sweatie, but styling:-)
Good God, that’s your BROTHER? You didn’t tell us he was so CUTE! Of course I’m looking at him with my (1983) 18-year-old eyes, not my (2009) 43-year-old eyes, because that’s just icky.
So, I wanted to email this to you but could not find your email address – We did everything we could think of that week – we went to the beach, we went to the NYS fair and walked around all day (12 hours), we went on water slides at a water park, I went on countless long walks – nothing worked. My midwife eventually (at 41 weeks) broke my water. :)
And as for this picture – well, I simply want to know why you even owned a scarf, gloves and beret? :)
