He is fine. Actually he is awesome.

“For some reason Mom, I am always so sore after playing baseball. I just stand around. I don’t get it.”

If I did half of what he did in a game I would need physical therapy just to make to the car.

So Tucker (or “Big T” as he likes to have written on his equipment. Which is hugely ironic since he is one of the smaller boys as he plays up in his league) is now playing Fall Ball Baseball as well as Club Soccer. And our little energizer bunny seems to be handling two sports just fine. And he has such a great love of playing the game (ANY game. The kid loves all sports) that he is ready to walk out the door and begging to go to practice early everyday. And when he gets home? He plays street hockey, rides bikes or skateboards with his brother.

So it was quite a surprise the other day when the school called to tell me he has passed out on the play ground. They said he had sweated thru his clothes, was clammy and his lips were blue when they got to him. The district nurse and all the staff rushed him to a cool room and brought him back around. And by the time I brought him home he was perfectly normal. We have been to the doctor, and they tell us ‘he is fine’. Although we are going to have a few more tests done at pediatric cardiologist this week just to be extra extra EXTRA sure.

I am fully confident he is absolutely fine.

It was a fluke*.

Fluke’s happen.

But for all of you who heard of this when it happened via my Facebook or Twitter, I want to extend a sincere thank you for your concern. Some days (most days) I feel pretty alone typing here in my corner of the world. So it is great to know you all got my proverbial back when I need it for support.

*What the heck is an actual ‘fluke’?….that might require another post right there*

That is scary, glad to hear he was OK. It’s so hot when they’re playing, I’m amazed they all manage to keep going, even if they are just standing around :)

Glad he is doing well.

Now that you mention it I know fluke is a type of flat fish…how DID it go from being a flat fish to being used as we use it today? hmmmmm… I’ll be waiting for that post from you.

Glad he is ok ;)

I’m glad he’s OK…was it dehydration??

Meanwhile – fluke, flat fish, no one wants ‘em. Catch one, it’s a mistake, throw it back. Perhaps that’s why mistakes are called flukes?? Just a theory…

The blue lips are rather alarming. Why didn’t the school call an ambulance? I would think that a child passed out drenched in sweat with blue lips would justify it, even if it turned out to be a false alarm.

So glad he’s back to normal, Marcy.

Sooo glad to hear he is okay! I agree, why didn’t they call the ambulence? Blue lips = lack of oxygen to my knowledge!

There are many definitions for “fluke” including the flat fish, part of a whale that helps with steering, and parasites (ick). I’m looking forward to your future blog post about it!
