This is Shinka.
My childhood cat and possibly the best pet that ever walked the earth.
The cat that slept not ON my bed, but ON ME every night of my childhood.
The cat that used to purr just when I walked in the room.
The cat that died in my arms when I was in college.
The cat that I still miss to this day.
So when I saw this guy below it made me think of her.
Far from identical…but I think I see a resemblance in the eyes.
This is Dusky. Here is his details:
“Dusky is a beautiful medium haired kitten with a sweet and gentle personality. He loves to play and do typical kitten activities. In the morning, he runs in race track formation around his room in excitement that breakfast is coming! He gets along with his foster brother and enjoys snuggling with him. He’s black and white with traces of a dusky gray coloring within the black, giving him a unique and beautiful coat. Dusky has been neutered, microchipped and has received initial kitten vaccinations.”
Dusky is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
Cost to adopt? Only a $75 donation.
Seems reasonable for something as cute as Dusky.

What a pretty cat! I’m enjoying the kittens we adopted from foster care but I forgot how excitable kittens can be. Now I’m a little nervous about the Christmas tree and all the decorations this year.
We never forget our childhood pets. Shinka sounds like a sweetheart.
What are YOU waiting for – got get him!
Didn’t you say you wanted a cat Marcy?
Hmm…for once, I am rather glad I don’t live near you, Mizz Marcy – I’d have another dang cat. I already have four – three sisters from one litter, ten years old, who look nothing alike, and one that I brought in from the yard this summer. I’m a sucker for furbabies.
They all sleep on me at night…rolling over requires contortion maneuvers that would make the Cirque de Soliel sit up and take notice! If I make anything like a lap, at least two of them will hunker down on it, usually settling in for a nap whether I meant to sit for that long or not. I blame my humongous bottom on the cats. How can I exercise if they’re holding me down all the time??
I hope your little friend there finds a good home. I’m just relieved it’s not going to be mine…
Shade and Sweetwater,
K
That right there is why I can not go within 1000 feet of an animal shelter.
Ask me about the number of cats I have. No don’t — I’d be too embarrassed not to lie.
I am one of the biggest cat people you will meet. That said my hubby has vowed that we will now and forever will be a single cat home. If I had my way I’d have 2 or 3 but for now I am happy with my Squeeze Cheese. I hope this beautiful baby gets the home he deserves!
