Listen up people.

I think I have mentioned it before…but I am one of those kookie people who loves Christmas music…I may or may not even be one of those people that when her iTune shuffle plays one accidently in say JUNE, does not change it but sings along. So I thought maybe you would like to see what I think are THE BEST versions of Holiday favorites. This is what I am LOVING all year long right now.

(I have tons. But these are my top ten. Well, Top ten for today.)

1. Yule That’s Cool….Bette Midler

2. Christmas is Coming….Vince Guaraldi Trio (Yup from Charlie Brown Christmas)

3. I believe in Father Christmas….Greg Lake (warning: this one makes me cry. I have no idea why.)

4. Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer….Billy May (you have never heard anything so awesome EVER)

5. Sleigh Ride……Ferrante & Teicher (another bizzare but great re-mix song)

6. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen….Barenaked Ladies

7. Winter Wonderland….Louis Armstrong

8. Jungle Bell Rock….The Brian Setzer Orchestra (but I have the Brenda Lee version too!)

9. Baby its Cold Outside…..Dean Martin

10. Happy Holiday (Beef Wellington Remix)…Bing Crosby

11. Everybody’s waiting for the man with a bag…..Kay Starr (yes I can count. This is a BONUS suggestion. Cuz I am giver)

This post is dedicated to my cool Aunt Sherri.

For some reason that I am sure has to do with KILLER genetics, we have very similar taste in music, and since I will not be with my family this year (I am going to visit the in-law family) I hope she will download some of these and play them Christmas day….and pretend I am there singing along.

Merry Merry everyone.

Makes my Orange and Lime tree look almost normal.

Almost.

Woman after my own heart. Dare I confess I have over 1,000 Christmas songs on my ipod? My excuse is that I’m a musician and I’ve been collecting for many years.

Have you checked out the free Christmas mp3 downloads at Amazon? Lots of interesting stuff.

That Bette Midler album is great (why do I always think it’s funny when Jewish people do Christmas albums?). My top list would also include some Johnny Mathis and Julie Andrews. And the Carpenters, because she sings in my range so it’s the best sing-along album for me. And Jimmy Buffet. OK, I need to stop now. Maybe I have to do my own post on this!

Ah, I love Christmas music too. My favorites are Steve & Eydie – Sleigh Ride and Baby It’s Cold Outside, Johnny Mathis’ Christmas Song (I think that’s the one, Chestnuts roasting etc.), White Christmas and the non-Beef Wellington version of Holiday Inn. Almost all old school, but I also love the Barenaked for the holidays, lol.

Hey!

Just recently discovered your blog (came in through Miss Cellania). Love your choice in music. Like you I listen a little bit all year. From your taste in music I think you’d like the internet radio station http://www.martiniinthemorning.com/
You’ll really like their Christmas mix.

I listen to Christmas music all year round. Don’t tell my mom, she only allows it after Thanksgiving until New Years.

No, my tree never looked anything like that one. I did have a GREEN tree with blue and yellow decorations , though. Close enough!

I too am a big Christmas music fan. The holidays don’t even begin until I’ve heard “Christmas Wrapping” and “I want a hippopotamus for Christmas”. I am also a HUGE Christmas movie/cartoon freak as well!

I listen to the Trans Siberian Orchestra CDs year round, because good music is good music and knows no season.

Shade and Sweetwater,
K (who doesn’t even celebrate Christmas…but you don’t have to go to the party to appreciate the tunes!)

My two non-traditional favorites:

“What Will Santa Claus Say When He Finds Everybody Swingin’” by Louis Prima

“The First Noel” by Crash Test Dummies

If you’ve never heard Brad WhatsHisName’s voice you need to!

Hey – thanks for the dedication! I must admit I am not a Christmas music lover (unlike everyone else who has commented on this blog) but I did go on iTunes and listened to every one of your top 11. My favs were the Bette Midler song, the Barenaked Ladies (who I love all the time) and the kay Starr one. Thanks for thinking of me!

Great list. I love them all. Do you like Dolly Parton’s Hard Candy CHristmas? I think that would be right up your alley.
