This photo is #2 in the Death Valley, California series…
This is the canyon road that takes you into a valley where a large oasis exists; a date farm in the HEART of the dry, barren and empty desert landscape. The farmers tap into the natural hot springs bubbling underground in this desert valley to care for 36 acres of date trees called of all things “China Ranch” after the original Chinese settler in the early 1800’s. As you can imagine this farm is something of an oddity and attracts visitors passing thru the area. And someone on the farm took this little old shed, filled it will farm tools and vintage photos and named it “A Modest Museum”.
Which has to be the understatement of the year.
And I love it.

Love your photo and the story to accompany it! Wonderful! Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!
Love the photo, but love the museum even more!
A little piece of “nothing” on the side of a dirt road- every traveler passes by it unnoticed.. BUT NOT you!
The talent is in the OBSERVATION, an appreciation for the charming little bits of life.
This is a beautiful example of using colors to make an attractive photo. Thanks for the story.
I love the perspective you used for the photo. It shows the great expanse of sky compared to the little shack. Thanks for sharing it.
You are really good at finding beautiful skies!
Well, and photographing them, of course!
Your mom is right (that IS your mom’s comment about talent, right?).
And best name EVER for a museum.
