In a series of events that seems even more impossible every time I think about…After 12 years the operation: ‘convince-husband-to-let-me-get-a-cat’ has come to an end.
A GOOD END.
Finally yesterday, he said ‘fine you can get cat then’….and I was stunned. Amazed. After 12 years of hoping and begging praying…it finally happened….he finally said yes. I don’t blame him. He is just not a ‘cat person’ or even a pet-person for that matter. I understand that. But the problem is… I AM A PET PERSON. Like in a huge way. Had a cat my entire life, um except for the last 12 years. So today I ran around to shelters and adoption events before he changed his mind to meet my new soulmate….to find the cat that would surely give me endless blogging material, be my constant computer companion and basically make me a happy soul. No more chasing down stray cats on the street just to get to pet them all in hopes of a random purr. No more telling the kids to ask for a cat every birthday, Valentines, Easter Christmas.
I told the kids 9 hundred times “we are JUST LOOKING” and “don’t fall in love cuz we are going to look at A LOT of cats before I decide”…Well, guess who totally broke their own rules at the first shelter? Um, ME.*
So many gorgeous cats. Some clearly purebred and just wonderful personalities.
I wanted them ALL.
In the end, we fell head over heals for this gal.
Who is WAY CUTER in person. Fat white cheeks and paws and the sweetest little pink nose.
And such lover, she snuggled in our laps immediately and seemed to really be turning on the charm.
She needed to be fixed still, so unfortunately we could not bring her home with us.
But I will pick her up on Tuesday, and finally my family will be complete.
Here are a list of names I am considering.
Wanna help pick? Let me know your choice in the comments. Have any other ideas?

Definitely not Pepsi
I live Laverne.
I mean LIKE Laverne.
Ok – so that pic makes her look gargantuan! I’d probably go with Tubby Cat. JUST KIDDING! She’s beautiful! I like the name Asiago, personally. Congrats!
Of your possibles, I like Pepsi the best but here are a couple more to consider. Cinderella (my personal favorite) or Puff, Bibi, Lexi or Nutmeg…..Congrats by the way. I know how much you love cats.
I’m actually kinda digging Glam Cat. :shrugs:
I too want a kitty but big mean hubby says no.
I’m going with Po-Po… because she’s black ‘n’ white like the five-o, five-o (police).
Congrats on your new addition! I like the name Moxie! Enjoy!
All of those are good names, I do love GlamCat too though. Pepsi is also a fav, I adore Pepsi. ROFL is a great one too!
love that your hubby let you adopt a feline. i’m a huge pet lover and my clothing proves that fact. i’m submitting a few more names for you to consider: cricket, gnocci (the name of the cat on Curious George), oreo (for the black and white theme).
enjoy your new family member!
mck.
I like Moxie and Qwerty. Actually, I *really* like Qwerty. Very cute! And congrats on your new kitty!!!
Personally I like Ethel. That way when she uses her claws on your sofa you can shake your fist at her and say “One of these days, Ethel!”
josie. hands down!
Moxie is CUTE. It says “attitude” which is perfect for a cat – particularly a cat belonging to YOU.
Pandora is cute. You could make her bed in a box!!
GlamCat is fitting.
Lucy? “Luuucy, I’m home!”
My favorite though is Martini. Or Cosmopolitan? Vanity? (heh)
omg… I GOT IT.
Commando.
All’s I’ll say re: naming is this – be careful what you name a creature…they tend to live up to it.
OK, and this, too – I like GlamCat.
Shade and Sweetwater,
K
JOSIE!
I like Pandora for some reason. Very cute cat.
QWERTY!
We have a very old cat, but there was this posting at Soup Husband’s work, advertising a cat “free to a good home,” and he even called, but… someone beat him to the punch. So now we’re all feeling kinda *pffft* about it. We had already gotten used to the idea of another kitty ’round the Soup House. Especially the kids. Even the dog! And the old cat? Well, we’ve forced him to adapt so many different times, I’m sure he would have been all, “Whatever, dudes.”
So now it’s out there on the table… and if one just… drops in our laps, I think we’ll jump on it. Not literally jump on it though. Because that would just be mean.
MANDU! As in Cat…..
I laughed out loud when I saw that Suz had picked Laverne, because that’s what I was just preparing to type. Remember, you’ll have to yell the name more than once. And you’ll just know what’s right.
How ’bout Twitter?
I love Qwerty, that is very cute! Just remember that when you go to the vet, they are going to give your cat YOUR last name, so it will be Qwerty Massura or whatever. My recently departed cat’s name was Robin Hood. Yeah, we called him Robin after a while after some embarrassing vet moments. Another friend named his cat Prince Caspian. You can imagine the looks when we went to the pharmacy to pick up some medication for Prince Caspian Mullen.
