He got in a fight with a table. And the table won.

Turns out of all the dangerous things my 11 year old boy can do…WALKING is the worst.

This morning-before school even started- he tripped walking on FLAT GROUND.

And unfortunately there was a lunch table nearby- and he broke the fall with his CHIN.

After the stitches were over, all he said was.. ‘Did you get it on video? That would be awesome to put on You Tube!’

Um, no son.

I was trying to not pass out from watching the whole thing.

And a special thank you to the discharge nurse who also gave me instructions how to clean the blood out of Jack’s new Atwater T-shirt.

But Jack made it clear he wanted to wear the bloody shirt back to school first. (And said it would be okay if I never got the blood out actually)

Cuz a bloody shirt to 11 year olds makes him cool on some level I can almost understand.

Life with boys is always a journey.

Bloody shirts, tears and laughing in the ER about him needing a tutor to improve his walking-skillz.

All of it.

My Life.

Still good when it is bad.

OH, my. You watched? When our nearly-two year old fell and broke the bony ridge that was holding three of his dear little baby teeth inside his mouth and had to have it surgically repaired? Well, we were both in the OR, but we sat at a nearby desk and read the newspaper. Something about them putting our baby under… and the thought of them sticking needles into his gums? GAH.

Jack is THE MAN, though. Reminds me of when this kid Danny Martz took a wooden block in the head in kindergarten. He left and came back with stitches on his forehead and for the next 10 days he terrorized all the girls by pulling his bangs up to reveal the sutures and getting right in our faces and yelling STITCHES!! I remember it as if it were yesterday.

Sparky got stitches in her forehead last month and I had no choice but to watch — I had to hold her down while they gave her her dope shot. Turns out she gutted it out without so much as a grimace. Kids are tougher than their parents.

Work those stitches, Jack Man. ;) Feel better soon, Marcy!

Isn’t funny how everyone feels more sorry for you than for Jack! It’s awful to see your kid hurt even if it’s only a scrape or bruise. He probably hopes it leaves a scar for a lifetime of bragging rights.

I had a minor surgery a few months ago, and when they sewed me up, my mom almost threw up. I didn’t feel a thing :D
