Yesterday the kids didn’t have school, so we went whale watching for our friend Spencer’s birthday. And besides being one of the crazy parents who instead of dropping the kids off and going to get a manicure offered to go along and help chaperone, I still had a great time.
Cuz I am insane nice like that.
Now whale watching off the California coast can be kinda hit-or-miss, but after seeing loads of dolphins, and sea lions on a buoy we did come across 4 whales. Or at least I think we did. The captain pointed them out, and I heard the crowd ooo and ah…but to be honest I barely saw I thing. I got this shot of something that resembles the back of whale….or a large dolphin. Actually, it was so damn cold out on the boat deck I didn’t really care anymore. But one thing was clear…I will never cut it as a National Geographic nature photographer…I am not one for ‘the elements’. Any of them.
Let’s all take a moment to admire the bravery of the psycho death wish people in that little dingy boat out there.
But it was a perfect opportunity to rock my Sorel Juneau boots. And once again they were awesome.
Oh! And you know what else was awesome?
This…
It is an iGo phone charger thingy.
And it was a lifesaver on the TWO hour tour.
Happy Birthday Spence.
Can’t wait till next year!

Good thing you weren’t at SeaWorld today. The boy would have been scarred for life.
Now I wanna go.
