After yesterday’s post I received an email from a reader who asked about my Family Field Trip series. She wondered about other Family Field Trips I had taken, and wanted to see them all. Family Field Trips are usually short day trips we take in and around the Orange County area. These are all kid friendly, and often (though accidently), educational. I have gathered a list of them all up to this point. (we go somewhere every weekend, but these are the favorites) So perhaps while you are making some plans for this summer, you might be looking for fun/different/interesting places to visit. Or maybe you are coming to Southern California for the very first time?
Well, I would recommend everyone of these places for a visit.
And maybe, call me and I will go with you.
Man I love where I live….I hope you do too.
Angelo and Vinci’s (Fullerton)
Melrose Ave & Coles Restaurant (Los Angeles)
LA County Museum of Art (Los Angeles)
If you have a post with a Family Field Trip you have taken, feel free to leave it in the comments…would love to see where you have been!

Shipley Nature Center in Huntington Beach and Long Beach Museum of Art. Both great for kids!
I loved living in So. Cal., so many field trip opportunities.
La Brea Tar Pits – Warning: my son made my husband get down on all fours, climbed on his back and reenacted the saber tooth attack on the ground sloth for months afterwards!
LA Natural History Museum – Warning: the dinosaur display in the foyer has sensors and will go off if your children decide to ride a triceratops!
Whale Watching – The guides do not appreciate children who quote Moby Dick i.e “….A Dead Whale or a Stove Boat…”
Birch Aquarium in LaJolla, Ca – The guides do not appreciate it if your children point to the exhibits and ask, “Would that fish make a good sandwich?”
San Diego Air & Space Museum – The president is very understanding of little boys who do not want to leave. He bribed mine to go quietly!
Norton Simon Art Museum – Warning: Patrons will be someone put off if your child upon seeing a Rembrandt loudly announces, “Hey look, a frilled human”. Children also feel an overwhelming desire to imitate the poses of the Degas statues, so have your camera ready.
We visited “Dude, Where’s My Video?” TWICE last weekend. I know. SO glamorous. Just very glad I can visit your Family Field Trips in my spare time. You know, between our glamorous outings.
