I am not a huge believer in long distance anything. Oh I have had boyfriends who moved away- and we tried to keep it together for a while but eventually, it was clear the endless phone calls and emails were not working. When I met my husband he lived on the opposite coast as me- and within a month he moved. Because I made it clear…I don’t do long distance anything. Since then I have moved cross country more than a few times, always leaving my friends behind. Oh sure- we had the best of intentions to keep in touch. But like all things long distance…they fade away.
So imagine my surprise when a little over a year ago I met Soliloquy * at a blog meet-up. She was from Atlanta. And I was from California. Sure we hit it off great that weekend…but I never dreamed we would be able to form a real honest to goodness FRIENDSHIP. After-all I DON’T DO LONG DISTANCE. Despite that fact, we have visited each other at least 5 times since we met-and we have loved every minute of it. We both think it is some kind of cruel god-joke that we live so far away from each other. But who knows? Someday we might live closer to each other. Same town? Not likely. But heck I would be happy with the same time zone. Just closer. So we can see each other MORE.
Last night I took her and the families to The Cougar Den (otherwise known as Javier’s Crystal Cove) for some sight seeing. Because I like my lobster enchiladas with a side of Botox and silicone. And while our kids and husbands hung out- it was a little bitter sweet to know it was the last night together for a while. Of course the pomegranate margarita helped make the pain go away….and we started plotting our next visit.
Because apparently, now I do long distance.

Great Story and Great photo! Need to get to that Courage Den, never been. But man I have heard stories.
Meeting the East Coast Contingent of my own long-distance bloggerships next week. Maybe next year some of them can make the trip WEST. Long distance kinda stinks but at least it gives you someone to visit and somewhere to stay.
cool dress
you both look fabOOO. xoxo to you both.
