Today I spoke on a panel at the Mashable Social Media Day event held at The Orange County Register. Speaking on a panel is the hardest thing I do. It means I have to not ‘Horshack’ the whole thing, and actually let others on the panel answer questions. Which for me- is WAY harder than giving an hour long presentation all by myself. Sometimes, even an hour is too short.
This panel was even better because my friend Beth Mansfield from CKE (Carl’s Jr/ Hardees) was up there with me, and she is a talker too. I feel really sorry for Rob Poetsch from Taco Bell. He was there, and seemed a bit stunned by us and decided not to fight for too much mic time. Beth and I look like we might fight it out if we had too. (Sorry Rob.)
So why am I like this? Well, it is simple….because I LOVE speaking. Not to hear my own voice, not because I am attention starved and not because I think I am a know it all….but because I sincerely love to help people. I like to teach people, share with people and give any part of me that they think could be useful to them in their business path. It was a fun event with about 850 people attending, complete with rows of fabulous food trucks. Which meant I finally got a chance to meet an icon I have been tracking my whole life.
The Carl’s Jr. Happy Star.
Which FYI is just as amazing in person as I imagined. So full of personality and jazz hands. And that ‘star’ quality is hard to put into words.
Oh I ran into friends there too. Some old and some new.
And some fabulously weird.
Like my buddy Jo who wanted to smell my hair.
And she wanted a pic of her smelling my hair too.
See? I live an awesome hair-smelling-hanging-out-with-stars kinda life.
And it’s a glamorous life for sure.
: )

Sorry to miss you guys. Busy promoting our family lemonade stand. xo
Great term, “not ‘Horshack’ the whole thing,” I bet that a lot of folks don’t get the meaning. But it speaks volumes to me. OOOH, OOOH!!!
