Hey did you hear? We have a new president. And since I know there are blog posts and news stories ad nauseam that talk about how awesome our new president is the historical ramifications and political overtones, I want to talk about really petty and insignificant important stuff; THE FASHION. When I turned the TV on this morning for the pre-game chatter the first image I was greeted with was Mrs. Biden. And I said to The Husband “that coat length and boots are beyond inappropriate for this event”. Are they in fashion? Yup. Does she have the figure to pull this off? Yup…..but the answer to the most important fashion question …IS it APPROPRIATE? is NO. No way. No how.
You don’t wear a white formal to a wedding unless you want to risk being mistaken for the bride, you don’t wear an “I love Bacon” shirt to a Vegan festival and you don’t wear a short red coat with a pair of ‘Aren’t-I-sexy-check-me-out-let’s-go-clubing-knee-high-boots’ to one of the most important serious and conservative public events in our country’s history. It was not the time or the place to be pushing her sex appeal. And frankly it was borderline too young for her as well.
Now lets talk Mrs. Obama and the bedspread coat. It was the oddest color choice. It was a greeny-yellow which seemed to be channeling a whole Jackie-O retro vibe. It had a bejeweled neck line that seemed out of place for a daytime event. And throw in those GREEN gloves and pumps? Ewww. It was phlegm-ish. And I don’t mean Flemish. (this is where the audio version of my post would get a big laugh).
So who had the right look? These ladies. The Obama girls. And man I feel so so sorry for them. Sure it SOUNDS like fun to be the daughter of the president. But I doubt it is. And I swear if Prez. Obama doesn’t hold up his end of the bargain and get those kids a dog…I will call for impeachment.
It was an exciting and hopeful event and I watched all of it. I am an Obama-Mama….and hope he can help America become a better version of itself. A version where my tax refund is not withheld due to a budget crisis. A version where my home value marches back up to where it was. I know you got a lot on your plate Prez. Obama….but if you could work those things in- I would appreciate it. It would be glamorous of you.
