My boys are both partaking in the tradition of cotillion this year. It is basically an etiquette, dance and social grace classes geared towards children. The things we assume everyone should know (opening doors for your date or making conversation with someone sitting near you for example) are talked about and the kids get to ‘practice’ in a safe environment. But I gotta say- each one (there are about 6 events a year) are a bit like mini-proms.
A re-cap…
We were early (it’s a Massura trait) so off to the bar for a Shirley Temple to calm his nerves after stopping by the cutest check-in table I had ever seen….
Next we met dad out front to have him tie Tucker’s* tie. Some things, mom just can’t do as well.
The adorableness of a room full of suited boys and dressed up girls (including those classic white gloves)..and out on the patio was the ‘parents bar’ so we could ‘socialize’ ourselves. Ahem.
The connection that this took place in the same room where we had our wedding reception 13 years earlier was not lost on me.
Blurry pics because I was trying to be cool about it and not totally mortify Tucker. Look closely- he is standing military stiff with his ‘date’ for the evening.
They dance. I think this is some kind of cha cha cha-rumba-waltz thing.
Whatever it was- it was cute.
Tucker has always had a way with the ladies.
And here- in this exceptionally blurry photo- I think his date agrees…
Can’t wait for the next one.
And you can bet there will be more pics to share.
*I know. THE HAIR. Dad took him the day before for a haircut. As is obvious- it didn’t turn out so well….UGH.
