UPDATE: CONGRATS TO WINNER: Amy Brown (selected using RandomGenerator.com)

When you ask Cameron (on the left up there) of Allstar Weekend how he met his band mate Zach- his voice gets excited as he recalls their friendship since 7th grade. “Zach was this guy- who always ALWAYS had a whole group of girls around him all the time. I had to figure out what he had that I didn’t!”

Soon they formed a friendship which eventually resulted in the hugely popular AllStar Weekend.

Debuting in 2010 while signed with Hollywood Records after their time on Disney’s Next Big Thing program, then touring with the likes of Selena and others- only then to make the radical decision to leave their label and strike out on their own…it has been a cliché world wind of teen-idol fame. With insta-hits like ‘Party like it’s not your birthday’ and ‘A Different Side of Me’ it has been clear these guys have a sound the pop charts are going to continue to reward.

I had the chance to chat with Cameron, for an unusually long conversation- and rather than paraphrasing the heck out of it- I thought I would share some of the transcript with you all. Warning- Cameron is funny, charming and the kind of adorable you want to put in your pocket and carry around with you. Just sayin. Read at your own risk…

Don’t worry I will make this painless, and only wanna ask a few questions- stuff you don’t normally get asked. Like I won’t ask if you are single-

But I am single. So feel free to publish that.

And you want to find one on the internet. Is that your best plan?

Hey it is harder than it looks to meet people doing what we do!

Cuz you are so shy and never around anyone?

Ha ha…yeah that’s it.

Soooo you and social media. You have 1 million fans on Facebook. How cool is that?

So cool. We were so stoked when it happened-

Who does the actual updating to the page? You or your people?

I do! Well we do. Actually I do about 80% and Zach does the other.

So cool. What about Twitter. You are out of control over there too…

Yeah, this is pretty much all me. I love Twitter.

Do you respond to people on Twitter?

Yeah I do. Sometimes. You know if someone seems like they had a bad day or whatever.

So tell me, when you guys decided to do this and you went home and said ‘Hey Mom and Dad- I am gonna be in a band!’ did they think you were a slacker? Or did they encourage you?

Well it was different for each of us. Zach’s dad was super against him dropping out of college. And Zach had to make a deal that he would get signed with a record label first. So when we did- he was still kinda against it, but he is cool now. My parents were way different. My dad was a musician when he was younger- and he was so so happy. Like it was happening to him! He was all ‘you are gonna tour and meet tons of girls!’ and stuff. It was cool. And Michael- well his parents were kind neutral. They were pretty happy when we got on TV though. That made it real for everyone I think.

I have a young friend named Peyton who is 9 yrs old and she would like to know, if being famous is as fun as it seems?

Heck yeah it is Peyton. Heck yeah. It’s awesome.

Is it different than you thought it would be?

Nope. Just awesome.

So I gotta ask. Do you Google yourself?

Me? No – but I am kinda obsessed with watching my Twitter mentions-

So how is it now that you guys are not working with a record label?

It’s awesome. This tour it is great. Some of the biggest crowds ever of our fans. And it is really relaxed ya’know? We are doing really well- really happy about how things are going.
